Seven in Ten Employers Report Rise in AI-Assisted Grievances as Manager Confidence Remains Low

Jamie Buckley

AI is changing the way employees complain at work. A WorkNest survey of 921 HR professionals and business leaders found that 70% of UK employers have seen a rise in grievances that look AI-drafted. These complaints are longer and more polished, and they’re full of references to employment law and policy. They aren’t necessarily more valid, but they are harder to unpick.

The cases themselves are getting tougher too, with mental health, discrimination and bullying all on the rise. Yet only one in eight employers trusts their managers to handle complex grievances. WorkNest’s Alice Brakenridge warns that AI can get the law wrong and urges employers to treat it as an assistant, not an adviser. The article closes with practical steps for staying on top of the problem.
